Centro Shalom provides pathways to health and self-sufficiency to the underserved and impoverished of greater Long Beach and the surrounding communities through core services and multi-level assistance.
Since its founding in 1977, it has served hundreds of thousands of clients seeking assistance with community advocacy, legal aid, housing, food, clothing, and other basic needs. Centro Shalom provides support services for new immigrants, the homeless and poor, serves a completely multicultural, multi-ethnic community, free of charge.
Centro has functioned for more than three decades with minimal paid staff and a vast network of volunteers, some of whom have been with Centro for over a decade. Centro is a project of the South Coast Interfaith Council.
